Soweto Pride Invite and Stall Rental

Forum for the Empowerment on Women (FEW) is pleased to invite Individuals & Organisations to take part in an important Soweto Pride annual event.

Soweto Pride is a political project, aimed at creating a political and social space for black lesbians’ visibility and to amplify their voices. Furthermore, it is aimed at engaging various LGBTI and community organisations and the broader local community of Soweto. The project is used to confront homophobia and discrimination experienced by gays and lesbians in South Africa, especially those who live in the townships.

Over the past six years, FEW have worked to develop and implement Soweto Pride with the objectives of;

To raise awareness on rights of LGBTI people
To create a social space for LGBTI people in the township
To create relations with communities that we leave in
To develop partnerships with stakeholders in Soweto for LGBTI people
To make Soweto Pride part of the community and
To claim our spaces as LGBTI people living in these townships

FEW would be honored to have the opportunity to work with you during this event. We hope that by collaborating with such a like-minded organization we will be able to achieve our shared goals of raising awareness and advocating for LGBTI human rights, amongst others.

We are therefore appealing to Individuals & Organisation to rent a stall at a prize of R250.00 for the use of displaying, distributing and exhibiting your organizational information and materials. In addition to renting a stall, we plead that Individuals & Organisation mobilize participation within the area of your work interest, delegate a speaker and increase organizations visibility by bringing its banners.

The success of this event depends on your involvement and that of other stakeholders. FEW would be pleased if you would comply with this request.

Please indicate your interest in participating in this event by filling in the attached stall application form and sending it back to us via 011 333 0345/0458 or by September 10, 2013. For more information please contact Dikeledi Sibanda on 011 333 0345/0458.
